Minecraft Quilt #83

today we are looking at Vicki's
quilt...she has made this one for
her son ...master J

Like most kids that I know
Master J is into the computer game Minecraft
so Vicki decided that she was going to make him
a quilt for his bed...Master J has some in put to
the making of the quilt what was ok to go into it
and what was not...this was a great quilt for Vicki to
make as she is still fairly new to the world of quilting :)

she has done such a wonderful job..
we used a variegated green thread and
an all over quilting pattern called
"cool Beans"

we used a bright backing
with the same green variegated thread so
Master J can flip the quilt over if so
chooses :) :)

can't wait to see the pictures of the finished
quilt in pride of place in

Needed some TLC Quilt #82

So have you ever had one of those quilts that
have been love to within an inch of its life
the quilt we are looking at today
Belongs to Jill...

Jill contacted me to ask if i would be able
to help her save her much loved
quilt...

after some emails and PM's back and forth
we got under way

Jill mailed her quilt to me
and I started to unpick the old quilting

and take the old binding off

we decided that stippling would be the best option
I used a cream cotton and it blended really well

then i was on the hunt for binding fabric
to match or similar to the one that was on
it originally ...YaY i found some...

after it was quilted we put a label on
the back to tell its story

as this quilt was originally purchase for Jill
as a welcome to the world gift 28 yrs ago
we put this information on the label

I am sure that there will be soooo many more years
to come of snuggle and cuddles under this gorgeous
gift and now will be able to pass it on the the
next generation

I was very happy to help Jill with her
much loved Teddy Bear Quilt

in classes that we have ran over the last few months

they are just gorgeous and are going to
have pride of place her house

and I can't wait to see them all bound and
where their final home will be

on the table runner we used
an all over butterfly pattern
and on the wall hanging we went
for a simple stipple

both items have turned out just gorgeous

Busy Busy Busy Quilt #79

Wow I can't believe how quick the
weeks fly by...

it has been a while since i have blogged the
quilts that i have been working on

so here we are the middle of September already
and quilts are still coming in thick and fast
so I have been very busy quilting and not much blogging

today we are looking at Kelly's Quilt that she
asked me to make for her Son
Baby H...it as has been in the works for some time
but I got there in the end...problem was that i had a few quilts in
front of this one

but here are the pictures of what we have done for
Kelly...and I am sure there will be many years of
snuggles under this gorgeous 1 of a kind
Handmade custom quilt :) :)

Another Mystery Quilt #78

As some of you may or may not know
we have a weekly Mystery Quilt
Club here at Darvanalee

the members of this group
are all members of a Facebook Group
call "Just Us Quilters"

the have been running Mystery Quilts
all year...so we decided to do them
together rather than sitting at home
by ourselves, there are 5 of us that do this
each Thursday :)

this quilt that we are looking at today
belongs to Gail from Wondai
this was the second one that the
group has done...

I love the colours in  this quilt
although Gail wasn't sure...

the Quilting was was a joint effort...
Gail came and used Darvanalee's Machine
as she wanted the pattern I had and her machine
is a lot smaller than mine...
and this pattern was not going to stitch out for her

we used a Yellow Varigated thread on the top and back of the quilt
we also went for something completely differnt
and used a Blue backing
as you can see the backing with the yellow cotton
is very striking ...bonus 2 quilt in one

The end result is stunning :) :)

I am off to quilt away the day

10 Min Block Quilt #77

a few months back we ran a class
for the 10 min Block
for our Beginners :)

the Quilt we are looking at today
belongs to Kathy...

Kathy has only just come to the world of
Patchwork and Quilting
but has very much fallen in love
with the hobby

Kathy decided that she wanted to make a bigger
quilt for her project
Most of the other students went
for smaller quilts
and with her left over fabrics
she decided to do some
matching pillow slips
but using another technique
called crazy patch

we used an all over quilting pattern
flower and stipple
and used a cream cotton

it is very striking and I just love these fabrics :)

I am off to my next quilt
